After recovering from the unwanted end of a three-year long relationship, Shana Morgan is ready to move on with her life. Her plan to jump back into the dating scene is derailed when her best friend asks her to deliver a “Dear John” message. She reluctantly agrees. Her immediate and powerful attraction to the recipient—a handsome Native American hunk—stuns her. It also leaves her fearing that her inability to resist him will damage her lifelong friendship.

Nine years younger, Taylor Raymond falls hard after viewing a picture of the attractive, full-figured Shana Morgan. Fate smiles on him when she unexpectedly shows up outside his office—to jilt him for her friend. Before he can make the most of his good luck and claim her as his, he’ll have to convince her a relationship with him won’t be a betrayal of her friend.

I don't write or post reviews very often, but I was compelled to write one for the travesty that is this book. I usually hate to criticize the work of others, as I know the task of writing is frequently a difficult one, but I spent $4.49 on this schlock and so wish to at least give the author two cents more.

The book could have gone many places: exploring the merits of May-December romances, or the nature and qualities of true friendship, or finding love after heartbreak. Alas, this tome did none of those things fully or well. Instead, the author gave us glancing blows of these heady topics and left this reader cold and unsatisfied.

Our female protagonist comes off as desperate, obsequious and ultimately puerile. She wantonly fantasizes about the lover of her best-friend, then accept, begrudgingly, the task of dumping him for her -- and hops on a plane across country to do it. Once there she falls under the spell of the male protagonist's prurient advances. With this friend's encouragement she engages in a steamy but temporary affair with him. And to add an extra wrinkle to this setup, the friend warns her not to fall for the male protagonist, because she might want him back at a later date.

Many, and I do mean many, love scenes follow. Inevitably, the two start to fall in love. Exactly why she falls for him I couldn't say, his actions and words in the story made me think he may have a severe personality disorder. Our heroine will not betray her "friend", and when that friend is upset that the two are engaging in more than a shallow and meaningless affair she leaves. But not without hearing some choice words from the hero regarding her friend and her behavior vis-a-vis his past relationship and his present one. This upsets her to no end, she flys home in tears.

Blah, blah, blah. I skipped over much of the intervening period and over to the wholly unfulfilling HEA.

Heed my warnings and save your $4.49.

I enjoyed the book I wished it would have been a more to read I feel that it was paperback on a e-book level. To please tried to get more paperback orders because I am not a fan of e-books I prefer paperback really old school about this matter. I enjoy ordering from .
Thank you
Rebecca R
This is a strange kind of lovestory. It is about Taylor and Shana. Taylor falls in love with Shana. When her best friend shows him her picture. Whom he is just a sex buddy with. He is native american and she is plus size sister. The plot is of course steamy but I cannot get ready for my friend going behind me and having sex with my friend...
I really enjoyed the book, however it was a little short for me. I really enjoy reading any books by Marilyn Lee.
In the true meaning of the word I was AGHAST,I have never used that word in all my 42 years. I LOVE to read. I PREFER BOOKS. However after spending $33 Barbados ( $15.50 US) I FEEL VIOLATED. That book should only be available in format for $0.99.

The language was horrible. It was not called for. I have no love at all for PORN in any form.

I don't ask for much. All I wanted was a decent storyline, properly thought out, communication and interaction between the characters. Alas, that was asking for too much. All I got was SEX AND MORE SEX AND SOME OF IT PATHETIC. SHANA HAD NO VALUE IN HERSELF AND TAYLOR COULD HAVE HAD SEX WITH A HOLE IN THE WALL. POOR.

I would have gotten more if I had read about a gorgeous, perfectly made blue-eye, long blond hair and caucasian male and female. But I am tired of that.

I only want a book with character, storylines, suspense, romance, imagination, integrity and genuine characters. Everyone don't have to be rich, have their own business, high end vehicles and clothes or even a huge bhg.com house or life. A story can come from anywhere.

This was also my first purchase of an interracial romance, along with The Ugly Girlfriend. Not good at all.

However, the excerpt from Soul Mates has me thinking, should i buy. I don't want to be fooled 3 times.
Loved it. Need more about Native American men and black Women. Also need more about Big Black Women and interracial dating.
I have to be very honest here and say don't buy this book not even if it's on sale. I was so disappointed in this book that i didn't even finish it. Marilyn lee is one of my favorite authors , I wld read any book she writes . But this book makes me ask one question " What the hell were u thinking when u wrote this book ?
I loved this book great love scenes very steamy. I wished it was longer maybe Marilyn Lee will write a sequel to this book. Taylor and Shana have so much chemistry who cares about the age difference. Awesome book read this they'll love it. Marilyn Lee does it again. I really love how she makes her love scenes seem so real with adding a condom or not adding one. Keep up the good work Mrs.Lee!!!!!!!
