I usually like Lynn Red, but the two books in this series, especially this one, just didn't do it for me. There seemed to be huge gaps in the story line and many of the characters simply did not come across as believable. Yes, I know it is a fantasy, but even with fantasy the character has to be believable within the context of the story. For me the hardest part was trying to accept a heroine went from being incredibly beaten down from a previous relationship who suddenly turns into a smart-talking, gun toting sheriff. Abuse victims might smack their abuser with a baseball bat but they don't bounce back in the way we were asked to accept the heroine as doing. I wish I could recommend more than 2 stars, but even that is a stretch in my opinion.Product details

When you see a book by Lynn Red??? You buy it automatically! This book is amazing! Dang it was good!! Not only does it have shifters in it, there is also mystery, murder, mayhem and it was FUNNY!! I read it in one sitting! Everyone should read this book! Ms. Red is a literary genius! Thank you, Ms. Red!!!! I enjoyed this book immensely!!!
I usually like reading this author's books a lot but this had to be one of the most convoluted stories ever with a lot of hick talk thrown in. Disappointing.
Wow, just wow!! Hmm, what can I say about this book? Well for starters it's just freaking awesome. Can I gush more, probably but not now. I'm just a sucker for bad boy alphas and kickass strong female leads. I can't get enough of them and these two are just perfect for those roles. The steamy romance, great action, plus a good mystery help to make this an all around great read. Lynn Red just keeps the goodness coming and I for one will keep gobbling them up
This is a continuation of the book Can't Bear to Run. In the first book bear alpha Dax and human Kendall meet and fall in love. But Kendall's psychotic ex-husband Dan is missing and Dax has enemies still trying to take over his clan. This book is filled with action as Dax and Kendall fight for their very lives and the health and happiness of their clan. The romance was in the first book and the great storyline completes itself in this book. Both books read together make one awesome wearbear paranormal shifter romance.
He is the alpha of his bear clan but he needs a break sees a girl sing in a bar but doesn't approach her but can't get her out of his mind. Then six years later there she is at a concert. The night she seen a good looking stranger was the night her life changed and not for the best she went home with the wrong guy and thought it was love soon to learn it was possession. So enjoy the read and see all that they fight to have a normal life ! !
Lynn Red did it again, creating a wonderful story with lots of humor, action and adventure as well as a love story mix all in one. In this well written self-contained story you have Dax, Alpha of the Kendal Creek Clan and his mate Raine who’s the only human and also the sheriff. You have a trouble maker reporter that’s in the area to cause who knows what saying there’s going to be a clan war and that why he’s there. And then you have Raines not so dead husband showing up. This is an awesome story to read with lots of funnies and surprises along the way. Very well written and extremely entertaining to read.
I don't like to do two star reviews, but this was a continuation of the first story. At it's best it was a rambling, confusing journey. At it's worst it was down right boring.
As unbelievable as it might seem Raines, not so dead husband shows up and is in the thick of a plot to take over the shifter community from Dax. They have a bunch of help from a crooked Council Member and a wanna be writer for a local or maybe it was national shifter rag. It just goes on and on from there.
My advise is if you are this far and, weren't blown away by the first story just move on an forget this one.
